Building rural communities in a changing political landscape

The Rural Housing Advisory Group held a learning event in Winchester on 16^th September 2011. The event was designed to address the political changes that are affecting rural delivery and to give practitioners the opportunity to hear from experts, to share ideas, good practice and new ways of working.

Around 90 practitioners and elected councillors heard presentations and attended workshops on a range of rural issues including:

• How to make the 2011/15 Affordable Homes Programme work in rural areas

• Passivhaus design homes in rural settings

• Neighbourhood Planning

• Community-led Developments (presentation 1) (presentation 2)

• Making a local community response to housing older people in rural England

• Hampshire Alliance for Rural Affordable Housing
